I have two such blankets (known as soft n warms in our family), one made by my Gran and the other I bought from a lovely old German lady at a Christmas market in Swakopmund when I was in the army a very long time ago. Both are very important blankets and in the event of a fire I would grab the cats first, my blankets second and then it would be a toss up between my Hawes watering can, my log of airline registrations that I have spotted over the years and my bulk bucket of sunblock which costs a fortune but lasts a year! Your sister is very lucky. Looking forward to the next post.

I don't grow Jasminum multipartitum, but I have a climbing variety called Jasminum polyanthum. It is a very vigorous plant, hardy and the blooms are pinkish buds open into white little flowers. Beautiful perfume :)

Talking about jasmines, my favourite one (the best fragrant) is Jasminum sambac which to native to southwestern, southern and south-eastern Asia like foexamples Philippines, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. It is also known as Arabian jasmine.

Sorry to hear about your garden, but I'm sure it will recover pretty quickly - with summer almost upon us in full. I suppose there has to be some sacrifice to be able to watch nature at her most powerful?

Firewalker is beautiful, but there really should be more art of this kind throughout our cities?

BTW, where would you be standing to appreciate her the best? (I hope not in the middle of the intersection?)

Hello,

I love it too, when it is early summer and suddenly all of the wonderful varieties of fruits and vegetables multiply (and prices decrease). It is fall here and our summer bounty is coming to an end.

I would probably go a little crazy buying Artichokes too.

Viv - it's been such a pleasure having you here, and I'm looking forward to your popping in whenever you can. Your writing elevated the blog, your humour is unmissable and you know so much more about plants than I do - you legitimised us in the garden blogging world.

Earth at Work is beautiful, I'm looking forward to it being one of my regular reads. And can't wait for you to pop in for a cuppa and a rusk.

Sounds like good advice, Helpmekaar. Those leaves are typically a bright, beautiful green, aren't they.

Heh, heh. Good luck Rebekahn.

It looks like a birds nest fern, Asplenium sp., that was allowed to get too dry. Depending on how long the roots were dry will determine if it will send out a new frond from the centre of the plant. I would cut all those leaves off and keep it in a nice spot that get dappled sunlight and give it a good liquid feed with an organic fertiliser like Nitrosol or Seagrow.

Do South Effricans eat biscuits?
I bet they do.
Would you both be kind and lovely and write a guest post for this new Blog that Mark Diacono (of Otter Farm) and I have set up?
This one http://biscuitencounters.wordpress.com/
Please.
The biscuit angle can be either central or peripheral.
